Can I Download El Capitan
I have 2 Macs, and am downloading El Capitan from the app store. I want to see if I can install it on an older MacBook Pro that has a broken Command-R feature that prevents me from installing the OS. (It says contact apple support) Since that costs $, I'd rather see if I can. Download the El Capitan installer and Diskmaker X. Insert an 8GB (or larger) flash drive. If you have any other data on that flash drive, back it up now, because the installer will delete.

I now have this file and am unable to use it to create a usb, I have later read a whole process may be involved to link the download to a local host ect.

I just clicked on the link to download, now I'm out of mobile data till the end of the month if there is no way for me to use this file.

When I click on the package it says:-
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
Couldn't open 'ftk3252456602304584541.pkg'.

This is not a real Apple download! I recommend you don't use this file! You need to get the real file from the Apps store from a Mac system that is working.
